This time last year I had the privilege of ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange as Cision officially became a publicly traded company.
Little did I realize that within the coming year we would have so much to celebrate – significant acquisitions (L’Argus de la Presse, CEDROM-SNi Inc, and PRIME Research), product announcements, company culture advances and much more.
Our successful period of growth, change and transition gives me a profound sense of pride. That sense of pride lives in all Cision employees as they bring their best each day, making significant contributions toward achieving our vision of transforming the communications industry into a modern, data-driven discipline.
In observance of our anniversary, I want to highlight some significant milestones from this past year that embody our company values and community.
As part of her introduction as our new Vice President, Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Valerie Lopez has helped promote thoughtful forums and vital opportunities for colleagues to learn and grow from each other. Organizations such as EMPOWER – our all-inclusive program supporting women leaders and colleagues — and Cision PULSE — our LGBTQ+ and ally resource group, have led to amazing ongoing engagement and participation especially during this month as Cision celebrated LGBTQ Pride. Cision is committed to supporting these employee-led resource groups that foster openness and diversity.
Expanding Our Market Presence
Expanding our portfolio through our most recent acquisitions of L’Argus de la Presse, CEDROM-SNi Inc, and PRIME Research this past year has enabled us to remain the leading providers of software and services for marketing communications and PR professionals. These successful acquisitions extend Cision’s mission in helping communicators identify influencers, craft and distribute meaningful campaigns and attribute value to those efforts.
In addition to expanding our portfolio through acquisitions, Cision has had impressive regional growth results; I especially want to make note of the great advances that APAC made last year. Although not a huge region from a revenue perspective they grew over 25 percent during the year, thanks to their outstanding sales and marketing efforts.
New Executive Leadership Talent
We added extraordinary talent to the executive leadership team through strategic hires such as Pritham Shetty as Chief Technology Officer, David Barker as President of Data Solutions and Innovation and Rainer Mathes as President of Cision Insights. These additions to the executive team have helped us extend our leadership position.
Product Announcements & Enhancements
The Engineering Impact team and the Data & Innovations team announced the launch of Cision Impact. A significant number of customers currently utilize Impact and that number only continues to grow. The Data & Innovations team also announced the launch of the Cision ID platform, which is an integral component of Cision’s long-term strategy. Our innovation team successfully helped create a new and revolutionary product to help the communications professional more accurately measure and analyze reach, audience and attribution of earned media.
Throughout this past year, there have been multiple significant product enhancements that have fortified the Cision Communications Cloud® and enacted successful integrations with the likes of Google and Adobe. Our product marketing and sales teams have done an amazing job introducing Cision customers to new product announcements and enhancements so they can reap the full benefits of a single, efficient and easy-to-use platform.
On the iContact side of the house, they introduced a new unlimited “send” option that resulted in impressive revenue increases.
New Cision Branding
After two-plus years of significant acquisitions, we realized Cision needed a unified brand that reflected our vision of elevating the art, science and impact of the communications profession. Over the past year, we’ve worked to modernize and grow awareness of the Cision brand. Thanks to the creative work of our communications and marketing teams, the new Cision brand unifies and promotes us as “one Cision” and embodies our company culture and promotes our vision.
Celebrating our one-year anniversary as a public company by honoring the breadth and depth of such hard work and dedication is the best way to observe this major milestone. Our success this past year is thanks to our customer base in the communications industry and 4,000+ employees around the world. It is an honor to serve PR professionals who thrive in high-pressure situations with tight deadlines, unpredictable hours and last-minute travel to exceed client demands. It is truly commendable how industry professionals remain creative and stay on top of the latest trends in an ever-evolving field. Cision thanks our employees and customers as they are both a part of our company’s inspiration to pave the way to a new era for the communications industry.
