CisionScoop: Justin Williams is now a writer and editor for The Athletic Cincinnati, covering sports. He previously worked for Cincinnati Magazine for four years, as well as Cleveland Magazine in 2012. He has also freelanced for The New York Times and Dime Magazine.
CisionScoop: After five years, Briana Bierschbach has left the MinnPosst to join MPR News. She continues to cover politics, which she has focused on since her time at the Associated Press. She has also spent time working for Politics in Minnesota, and the Minnesota Daily.
Sandhya Somashekhar is the newest editor on the National Politics Enterprise and Investigations team for The Washington Post. She previously filled this role on a temporary basis, and oversaw stories on Trump’s business interests, as well as the Supreme Court and political finances. Somashekhar joined WaPo in 2006 as a reporter.
As of May 19, Robert Hunter is no longer with The Wall Street Journal. He oversaw the Weekend Investor section as the personal finance editor, and also oversaw the banking group while working on Money & Investing. In 2014 he worked with the real estate team, and most recently served as the team’s bureau chief. h/t Talking Biz News
Ted Stafford has been named the fashion director of Men’s Health. He has also taken over the role of market director for Hearst men’s group, which includes Esquire and Popular Mechanics. He previously served as market director for GQ since 2013.
The Palm Beach Post welcomed back Antonio Fins as watchdog editor. He served as the business editor for the Post between 2015 and 2017, and took over as managing editor of McClatchy Newspapers for less than six months before returning to the Post. He now oversees county government, courts and politics.
John von Rhein has announced that he will retire from his role as a classical music critic at the Chicago Tribune. He has held this role since 1977, writing reviews, features, trends and hard news in the classical music industry. He will officially leave the organization at the end of June.
At the end May, the Twin Cities ABC affiliate KSTP-TV will welcome Jonathan Rozelle as the station’s newest reporter. Rozelle previously worked at KARK-TV and KLRT-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas, since August 2015, and has also reported for KHBS-TV and KHOG-TV in Northwest Arkansas.
Al Payne will fill the open program director position at KMJK-FM in Mission, Kansas, after Kenny J’s departure in January. Payne will be responsible for the programming of Urban AC “Magic 107.3,” after serving as the program director of WMGC-FM in Detroit. He has worked as a hip hop and R&B programmer for over 20 years.
Spectrum News NY1 has welcomed Amy Yensi as its Bronx reporter. She was previously a general assignment reporter for the CBS Baltimore affiliate, WJZ-TV since March 2015. She also reported for The Bronx and Brooklyn in 2011.
