CisionScoop: SeattlePI has promoted Daniel DeMay to senior editor covering transportation and culture. DeMay has been with the site since 2015, when he joined the staff as a reporter. Prior to that, he reported for Skagit Valley Herald as government reporter.
CisionScoop: After almost three years at GQ, Catherine Gundersen has left her post as managing editor. She had re-joined the glossy in December 2015 replacing then-editor Ken Gawrych. Prior to GQ, Gundersen had a brief stint at Marie Claire as managing editor. She has also worked for SELF, Brides and Us Weekly.
Current Globe & Mail U.S. correspondent Joanna Slater will join the Washington Post June 4 as India bureau chief. Slater has been with the Toronto daily since 2010 reporting on Wall Street, business and economic news. Prior to that, she spent four years at The Wall Street Journal covering the financial crisis out of New York as well as South Asian business and politics from Mumbai.
The Wall Street Journal has named John D. Stoll business columnist. He will write a weekly column in the paper’s Saturday business section, as well as contribute to the overall WSJ business coverage. Stoll initially joined WSJ in 2007 left in 2010, only to rejoin the staff in 2014; he most recently served as the Detroit bureau chief and global auto editor. h/t Talking Biz News
Yahoo News has brought on Sean Naylor as correspondent covering national security. Naylor spent the last two decades as a reporter for Army Times, and has covered special operations forces, readiness, force modernization and the Army’s senior leadership. Prior to that, he was the intelligence and counterterrorism correspondent for Foreign Policy magazine, and has also contributed to Newsweek and The New York Times.
Christian Hauser has joined Cincinnati, Ohio CBS affiliate WKRC-TV as multimedia journalist. He comes from WKEF-TV, where he spent four years working as a reporter. Prior to that, he was a news producer for WCPO-TV in Cincinnati.
WXNY-FM in New York has parted ways with on-air personality Luis Jimenez after 14 months. Jamenez was the host of the morning and midday broadcasts and returned to WXNY in March 2017. He has spent more than two decades in the New York market, 15 years of which working for SBS’ Mega 97.9 WSKQ-FM.
The San Diego Business Journal will part ways with publisher Huntley Paton this summer. Paton is leaving the organization after two years as president and publisher. He joined SDBJ in September 2016, and prior to that spent more than 30 years in the business-journal industry, most of them with American City Business Journals. h/t Talking Biz News
