CisionScoop: Lynn Hicks has departed from the Des Moines Register on March 23. The former lead engagement and opinion editor has been appointed the communications director at the Iowa attorney general’s office. Hicks was the executive business editor for the Des Moines Register.
PBS NewsHour has announced several personnel changes:
- Amna Nawaz has joined PBS NewsHour as national correspondent and will also serve as fill-in anchor. Nawaz recently completed her tenure at ABC News where she served as anchor and reporter.
- Nick Schifrin is joining the nightly broadcast as foreign affairs and defense correspondent. A former PBS special correspondent, Schifrin has served as an international correspondent for NPR, Al Jazeera America and ABC News.
- Judy Woodruff has been named solo anchor of PBS NewsHour. She has been co-anchoring PBS NewsHour since 2013, and prior to that served as senior correspondent.
The Washington Post has announced Travis Andrews will be moving to the features section on April 2 and become a pop culture reporter. Andrews is currently wrapping up his time as Morning Mix reporter at WaPo.
USA Today is bidding Greg Toppo farewell. Starting on April 2, he will be a senior editor at Inside Higher Ed. Toppo was a national education reporter for USA Today and is the author of The Game Believes in You: How Games Can Make Our Kids Smarter.
